Breguet
In 1775, the then novice watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet opened his first watch shop in Paris, where his creations gradually gained popularity among the French elite.
During the French Revolution, Breguet moved to Switzerland, where he created a new modern watch industry. Nevertheless, in 1795 he returned to France and restored his workshop and began developing his own mechanism for ordinary watches and watches with a repeater.
In 1801, Breguet began to gradually develop new markets, and first of all Russia, which at that time was a profitable partner. As a result, in 1808 a representative office of the Breguet Russian House was opened in St. Petersburg.
For outstanding achievements in watchmaking Breguet was awarded numerous awards and titles. In 1816 he was elected a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and he became a Knight of the Legion of Glory and a member of the French Bureau of Measurements (Chamber of Weights and Measures).
In 1999, the Swatch Group bought Breguet.
